Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe left a great legacy in America. This is because her novel helped fuel the Civil War. Uncle Tom's Cabin got millions reading about the injustice and inhumanity of slavery. As a result, more people became angry about slavery. She helped to lead the abolition movement. The Confederacy appealed to Great Britain to join the war on their side, but Britain refused. (The Prime Minister of Britain had read Uncle Tom's Cabin three times! Coincidence or not?) History would have greatly changed if Great Britain had helped the Confederacy.
